Don’t spend $5 on an expensive card with someone else’s words on it. The best cards are the ones made with crayons, glitter and some words spelled wrong by our little ones. These are the gifts we will look back on years from now to remember how cute our babies were. So pull out the scrap paper, crafting supplies and get to work on a masterpiece!
Our inner clock may wake up at 7am on the dot but on Mother’s Day it is very nice to lie in bed without having to jump out of bed to start another crazy day. So, dads, take the kiddies and go somewhere they will not wake us mamas!
I know this may make me sound “old” but the perfect morning would be to fill my large coffee mug that has already been made by someone else, sit down on the recliner and drink the whole cup, uninterrupted. So, my suggestion would be to let your mama wake up on her own and make sure she has time to sit and relax UNITERUPTED….at least until breakfast.
We are usually the ones to cook so either whip up a breakfast (not cereal) or take us to brunch! BUT if you know the kids will only cause stress at brunch, send us to brunch with our moms or friends while you watch the kiddos. Remember, UNINTERUPPTED is the key!
I can’t tell you how many times I have gone up to check out line (usually at Target) and decided that the one item I was getting for myself, I will put back because I was feeling guilty. So, a great gift would be a guilt-free gift certificate to their favorite store. Don’t give money, but a gift card to a specific place you know they will use it on themselves. And most importantly give her some TIME to go!
Most ladies like a good back rub, mani, pedi or any spa treatment. So, schedule a time for your lady to get pampered. If funds are low, grab some lavender scented lotion and give her a relaxing shoulder or foot rub.
You can’t go wrong with a little bling. Weather it’s a ring, earrings, necklace or bracelet, if it has some meaning behind it, your special lady will love it. Not sure what to get? Choose a necklace with your kid’s initials or personalize a bracelet with your kid’s names on it. It will be sure to be a favorite.
A simple, “Mommy I love you because…” will make any mom's heart melt. So make sure, out of all the things you give, tell her how much she means to you along with a big hug and kiss. Those are priceless gifts that you don’t have to spend a dime on.
Happy Mother’s Day to all the special women out there! Hope you have a wonderfully-relaxing day!
